Kani Puta, a farmer from Mandala village in Kantabanji tehsil, Balangir, Odisha, supports his family of four through farming. He initially leaned towards cotton farming but was unable to continue due to affordability issues with seeds. With SankalpTaru’s support, Kani has now established his first orchard with 250 mango trees on his 3-acre farm. By intercropping, he is ensuring regular income while the orchard matures. His journey reflects the growing shift towards sustainable farming in Kantabanji, where such efforts are still rare.
