~45% of Indiaโ€™s land is degraded primarily due to deforestation, unsustainable agricultural practices, mining and excessive groundwater extraction. Destruction of forest has created numerous environmental catastrophes including soil erosion, frequent flooding of rivers, etc. However, 2/3rds of the land can be regenerated and thus CDSL has partnered with Sankalptaru Foundation for the betterment of a cleaner tomorrow. Under the Barren Community Land Transformation Program Sankalptaru focused on creating bio-diverse forests on barren land to positively impact communities and wildlife creating bio-diverse forests in the border region of Rajasthan, Thar (Ghotaru) & Meghalaya. Under the Urban Plantation Program, the aim was to tackle the problem of pollution in the urban cities by planting high oxygen producing native plant species in Maharashtra and Ahmedabad.
