About the Project
Project Enrich Biodiversity is part of SankalpTaru's Sustainable Agroforestry category, aimed at strengthening agriculture and enhancing farmer livelihoods through intercropping and biodiversity restoration. In recent years, farmers have been unable to secure optimal profits through traditional farming due to the challenges of food insecurity, destabilization, and migration — threatening the long-term health of both farming communities and local ecosystems. Under this initiative, farmers are encouraged to implement intercropping with agroforestry to help replenish the lost nutrients in their soil.
Planted across farmlands and community landscapes, this initiative promotes biodiversity while integrating intercropping with agroforestry to replenish lost soil nutrients and diversify farm income.
Through this initiative, agroforestry-based ecosystems deliver:
- Strengthened Agriculture: Integrates intercropping and agroforestry practices to replenish soil nutrients and enhance overall farm productivity
- Enhanced Farmer Livelihoods: Diversified income through multiple fruit and nut varieties reduces vulnerability to food insecurity and market fluctuations
- Soil & Water Conservation: Improves soil fertility, prevents erosion, and enhances moisture retention through root systems of diverse tree species
- Biodiversity Promotion: Encourages ecological balance by supporting a rich variety of native flora and fauna across farming landscapes
- Climate Resilience: Helps farming communities adapt to climate variability and reduces migration driven by crop failure and destabilization
By supporting Project Enrich Biodiversity, you contribute to building resilient farming systems that empower farmers while restoring ecological balance and biodiversity to the landscape.
Q: What is this project?
A: A SankalpTaru initiative that plants fruit-bearing trees on farmers' fields to restore livelihoods and biodiversity in the region.
Q: Where are trees planted?
A: Across farmer-partnered agroforestry land and community landscapes in the designated state, selected for ecological suitability.
Q: How is tree survival tracked?
A: Every tree is GPS-tagged, photographed, and monitored through periodic field visits and digital reporting by our on-ground teams.
Q: Do I get a certificate?
A: Yes, a personalised CerTreeficate is sent immediately after your contribution. Plant images with GPS coordinates are emailed within 48 hours of planting.
Q: Is it tax-exempt under 80G?
A: Yes, every donation receives a valid 80G tax receipt under the Indian Income Tax Act (PAN card details required).
