About the Project
Project Harit Uttar is part of SankalpTaru's Sustainable Agroforestry category, aimed at
strengthening agriculture and enhancing farmer livelihoods in Uttar Pradesh. Agriculture holds a major share in the state's gross domestic product; however, due to climate change and various other factors, crop failure has become a recurring burden for farmers — pushing many towards cash crop farming as a survival measure. SankalpTaru initiated Project Harit Uttar to help farmers overcome this challenge by planting fruit-bearing trees across various districts of the state, strengthening livelihoods and improving long-term farm sustainability.
Planted across farmlands and community landscapes in Uttar Pradesh, this initiative promotes biodiversity while integrating fruit-bearing tree solutions into traditional and cash crop farming systems across the state.
Through this initiative, agroforestry-based ecosystems deliver:
- Strengthened Agriculture: Integrates fruit-bearing trees with existing farming systems to reduce the impact of climate-driven crop failure and enhance farm productivity
- Enhanced Farmer Livelihoods: Diversified income through fruit cultivation provides farmers with a stable additional earning source beyond vulnerable cash crop dependency
- Soil & Water Conservation: Improves soil fertility, prevents erosion, and enhances moisture retention across Uttar Pradesh's agricultural lands
- Biodiversity Promotion: Encourages ecological balance by supporting native flora and fauna across the state's diverse farming landscape
- Climate Resilience: Helps farms adapt to climate-driven challenges and improves carbon absorption, contributing to long-term agricultural sustainability
By supporting Project Harit Uttar, you contribute to building resilient farming systems that empower farmers while restoring ecological balance in Uttar Pradesh.
Q: What is this project?
A: A SankalpTaru initiative that plants fruit-bearing trees on farmers' fields to restore livelihoods and biodiversity in the region.
Q: Where are trees planted?
A: Across farmer-partnered agroforestry land and community landscapes in the designated state, selected for ecological suitability.
Q: How is tree survival tracked?
A: Every tree is GPS-tagged, photographed, and monitored through periodic field visits and digital reporting by our on-ground teams.
Q: Do I get a certificate?
A: Yes, a personalised CerTreeficate is sent immediately after your contribution. Plant images with GPS coordinates are emailed within 48 hours of planting.
