About the Project
Project Hariyar Chhattisgarh is part of SankalpTaru's Sustainable Agroforestry category
, aimed at strengthening agriculture and enhancing farmer livelihoods in Chhattisgarh. Known as the rice bowl of central India, Chhattisgarh is one of the richest biodiverse states in the country; yet as most farmers here practice monocropping, their livelihoods remain restricted to a single source of income. SankalpTaru launched Project Hariyar Chhattisgarh to bring relief to the farming community by promoting agroforestry together with multi-cropping, helping farmers become economically resilient and encouraging sustainable agriculture.
Planted across farmlands and community landscapes in Chhattisgarh, this initiative promotes biodiversity while integrating fruit-bearing tree solutions into the traditional paddy-farming systems of the state.
Through this initiative, agroforestry-based ecosystems deliver:
- Strengthened Agriculture: Promotes agroforestry alongside multi-cropping to diversify farm systems and reduce the risks associated with monocropping
- Enhanced Farmer Livelihoods: Diversified income through fruit and nut cultivation reduces dependence on a single crop and builds economic resilience for rural farmers
- Soil & Water Conservation: Improves soil fertility, prevents erosion, and enhances moisture retention across Chhattisgarh's agricultural lands
- Biodiversity Promotion: Encourages ecological balance by supporting native flora and fauna across one of India's most biodiverse states
- Climate Resilience: Helps farms adapt to changing climate conditions and improves carbon absorption while sustaining the state's rich natural biodiversity
By supporting Project Hariyar Chhattisgarh, you contribute to building resilient farming systems that empower farmers while restoring ecological balance in Chhattisgarh.
Q: What is this project?
A: A SankalpTaru initiative that plants fruit-bearing trees on farmers' fields to restore livelihoods and biodiversity in the region.
Q: Where are trees planted?
A: Across farmer-partnered agroforestry land and community landscapes in the designated state, selected for ecological suitability.
Q: How is tree survival tracked?
A: Every tree is GPS-tagged, photographed, and monitored through periodic field visits and digital reporting by our on-ground teams.
Q: Do I get a certificate?
A: Yes, a personalised CerTreeficate is sent immediately after your contribution. Plant images with GPS coordinates are emailed within 48 hours of planting.
Q: Is it tax-exempt under 80G?
A: Yes, every donation receives a valid 80G tax receipt under the Indian Income Tax Act (PAN card details required).
