About the Project
Project Hariyawal Punjab is part of SankalpTaru's Sustainable Agroforestry category, aimed at
strengthening agriculture and enhancing farmer livelihoods in Punjab. While Punjab is abundant with agricultural land, the widespread practice of monocropping and stubble burning has made air pollution and groundwater depletion two of the state's most pressing concerns. The plantation of native, fruit-bearing trees on farmers' fields helps restore lost nutrients from existing crops, while also holding greater moisture content to rejuvenate depleting groundwater tables.
Planted across farmlands and community landscapes in Punjab, this initiative promotes biodiversity while integrating native fruit-bearing tree-based solutions into the state's existing agricultural systems.
Through this initiative, agroforestry-based ecosystems deliver:
- Strengthened Agriculture: Integrates native fruit-bearing trees to restore lost soil nutrients caused by monocropping and enhance overall farm productivity
- Enhanced Farmer Livelihoods: Diversified income through fruit cultivation reduces dependence on single-crop earnings and the environmentally harmful practice of stubble burning
- Soil & Water Conservation: Enhances moisture retention in soil to rejuvenate depleting groundwater tables and reverse water scarcity caused by intensive farming
- Biodiversity Promotion: Encourages ecological balance by supporting native flora and fauna across Punjab's intensively farmed landscapes
- Climate Resilience: Helps reduce air pollution from stubble burning, improve carbon absorption, and build farm resilience against changing climate conditions
By supporting Project Hariyawal Punjab, you contribute to building resilient farming systems that empower farmers while restoring ecological balance in Punjab.
Q: What is this project?
A: A SankalpTaru initiative that plants fruit-bearing trees on farmers' fields to restore livelihoods and biodiversity in the region.
Q: Where are trees planted?
A: Across farmer-partnered agroforestry land and community landscapes in the designated state, selected for ecological suitability.
Q: How is tree survival tracked?
A: Every tree is GPS-tagged, photographed, and monitored through periodic field visits and digital reporting by our on-ground teams.
Q: Do I get a certificate?
A: Yes, a personalised CerTreeficate is sent immediately after your contribution. Plant images with GPS coordinates are emailed within 48 hours of planting.
Q: Is it tax-exempt under 80G?
A: Yes, every donation receives a valid 80G tax receipt under the Indian Income Tax Act (PAN card details required).
