About the Project
Project Shyamolima is part of SankalpTaru's Sustainable Agroforestry category, aimed at strengthening agriculture and enhancing farmer livelihoods in West Bengal. As one of India's leading agricultural producers, West Bengal is said to have good farming interventions; however, the state's marginal farmers do not receive a good return on their crops due to low selling rates and limited income diversification. SankalpTaru initiated Project Shyamolima with a pledge to promote biodiversity through the development of a sustainable plantation program, creating an efficient and effective self-sustaining model for project beneficiaries.
Planted across farmlands and community landscapes in West Bengal, this initiative promotes biodiversity while integrating native fruit-bearing tree solutions into traditional farming systems of the state.
Through this initiative, agroforestry-based ecosystems deliver:
- Strengthened Agriculture: Integrates native fruit-bearing trees with crops to enhance farm productivity, resilience, and long-term agricultural sustainability
- Enhanced Farmer Livelihoods: Diversified income through fruit cultivation reduces dependence on single-crop earnings and low market selling rates
- Soil & Water Conservation: Improves soil fertility, prevents erosion, and enhances moisture retention across West Bengal's agricultural lands
- Biodiversity Promotion: Encourages ecological balance by supporting native flora and fauna through sustainable plantation programs
- Climate Resilience: Helps farms adapt to changing climate conditions and improves carbon absorption across the region
By supporting Project Shyamolima, you contribute to building resilient farming systems that empower farmers while restoring ecological balance in West Bengal.
Q: What is this project?

Q: Where are trees planted?
A: Across farmer-partnered agroforestry land and community landscapes in the designated state, selected for ecological suitability.
Q: How is tree survival tracked?
A: Every tree is GPS-tagged, photographed, and monitored through periodic field visits and digital reporting by our on-ground teams.
Q: Do I get a certificate?
A: Yes, a personalised CerTreeficate is sent immediately after your contribution. Plant images with GPS coordinates are emailed within 48 hours of planting.
