strengthening agriculture and enhancing farmer livelihoods in Andhra Prade...
Project Green Deccan is part of SankalpTaru's Sustainable Agroforestry category, aimed at
strengthening agriculture and enhancing farmer livelihoods in Andhra Pradesh. The dry weather conditions of Andhra Pradesh attract very little annual rainfall, leading to prolonged droughts that cause massive agrarian crises and extreme despair for farming communities across the state. Recognising the enormous environmental value of agroforestry and its potential to provide diversified income to farmers, SankalpTaru introduced Project Green Deccan to strengthen rural livelihoods and the biodiversity of the state.
Planted across farmlands and community landscapes in Andhra Pradesh, this initiative promotes biodiversity while integrating fruit-bearing tree solutions into traditional farming systems of the Deccan region.
Through this initiative, agroforestry-based ecosystems deliver:
Q: What is this project?
A: A SankalpTaru initiative that plants fruit-bearing trees on farmers' fields to restore livelihoods and biodiversity in the region.
Q: Where are trees planted?
A: Across farmer-partnered agroforestry land and community landscapes in the designated state, selected for ecological suitability.
Q: How is tree survival tracked?
A: Every tree is GPS-tagged, photographed, and monitored through periodic field visits and digital reporting by our on-ground teams.
Q: Do I get a certificate?
A: Yes, a personalised CerTreeficate is sent immediately after your contribution. Plant images with GPS coordinates are emailed within 48 hours of planting.
Q: Is it tax-exempt under 80G?
A: Yes, every donation receives a valid 80G tax receipt under the Indian Income Tax Act (PAN card details required).

Through this initiative, agroforestry-based ecosystems deliver:
- Strengthened Agriculture: Integrates drought-resistant fruit-bearing trees with crops to enhance farm productivity and resilience in rain-scarce conditions
- Enhanced Farmer Livelihoods: Diversified income through multiple fruit varieties reduces dependence on single-crop earnings in drought-prone regions
- Soil & Water Conservation: Improves soil fertility, prevents erosion, and enhances moisture retention across Andhra Pradesh's arid agricultural landscapes
- Biodiversity Promotion: Encourages ecological balance by supporting native flora and fauna across the Deccan landscape
- Climate Resilience: Helps farms adapt to extreme drought conditions and improves carbon absorption in climatically vulnerable regions
